- Introduction
Doherty Associates (DA or Company) recognises that its business operations will inevitably impact on the local and global environment. Minimising the impact is a part of our culture and is a core element of our Corporate Social Responsibility Policy.
We believe that we have an obligation to our staff, clients, partners and the environment to operate our business sustainably. DA has made a commitment, through continual improvement in our environmental performance to:
- protect the environment by integrating recognised environmental management best practice, into all our business operations and strategy
- empower users with technology and help to develop greener future
We encourage all our staff to consider the effect of their actions on natural resources. DA’s long term road map to support environment sustainability includes:
- Environmental management – use fewer resources, cut waste, increase recycling, and reduce landfill
- Energy management – reduce energy costs
- Emissions verification – verify it
- Carbon neutrality – achieve net zero carbon emissions

This policy reflects DA’s commitment to operate in an environmentally considerate and responsible manner.
DA is an IT company based in London and Malaysia, delivering award-winning managed services for over 30 years, to local and international organisations, who seek smarter ways to manage and develop their technology.
We are ISO 9001 and ISO 27001 security accredited, a Microsoft Gold Partner and a Fortinet Advance Partner.
Specifically, DA’s commitment is to:
- Ensure that we integrate sustainability considerations into our business decisions
- Promote sustainability and environmental best practice in the services we provide to our clients, examples include: reducing carbon footprint, reducing costs and services procured, provision of cloud infrastructure, remote/ hybrid working, sustainable workplaces and digital transformation
- Support the Government’s Environmental Policy and Sustainable Development Plan by adopting approaches advocated in their policy and documents such as the ‘Government Workplace Design Guide’ when setting up new workplaces
- Ensure that we comply as a minimum with all UK, European and international environmental legislation
- Reduce energy and resource consumption and promoting the use of energy efficient alternatives
- Ensuring waste is minimised and the amount of waste sent to landfill is reduced
- Communicate our Environmental Policy to staff, clients, partners, suppliers
- Work proactively with our supply chain to reduce the environmental impacts of the provision of goods and services, by leading by example and selecting partners with a similar approach
- Ensure that the Environmental Policy is understood, implemented and maintained at all levels within the Company, facilitated through training and awareness to staff.
- Set, monitor, review and where possible exceed all objectives and targets in relation to environmental impacts and define the framework of achieving them in order to improve our environmental management and performance
- How we deliver on our commitment
All staff are responsible to ensure we deliver on our commitments and typical activities include:
- Remote and hybrid working capabilities
- Designing and implementing cloud storage and infrastructure solutions
- Minimising the generation of waste and promoting recycling initiatives
- Partner with green technology company (PRM Green) for the disposal of IT equipment which is to WEEE and RoHS standards
- Always using double sided printing where possible and generally discourage printing
- Utilise the e-sign service for signing documents, where possible
- Switching off computers and electrical equipment when not in use
- Using automatic lights (motion activated)
- Air-conditioning set to ‘turn-off’ automatically outside of business hours
- Using low energy lights where possible
- Using of green transport alternatives (cycle to work, walking, public transport)
- Local sourcing and partnering preferably in the UK
- Regularly review the Environmental Policy to take account of changes in legislation and to continually strive to improve performance
- Responsibilities
The DA Board of Directors is responsible for sign off of this policy, regularly reviewing and updating where there have been significant changes to the Company or the nature of the Company’s activities.
The managers and Human Resources are responsible for promoting the best practice within the Company and ensuring staff are trained and understand the Company’s commitment efforts.
Staff are responsible for participating and delivering on DA’s commitment to environmental sustainability.
